Sleeeeepyyyyyyy--But smart!
I just finished mid-term #2 for Psych 104 on 3.5 hours of sleep. They alot 80 minutes for the exam.
I took 25 minutes.
Holy shit, I find it hilarious that I was just re-reading the section on sleep deprivation late last night. It said that if you're sleep deprived, tasks that take physical prowess or intellectual problem-solving aren't that greatly affected.
Hawhaw!
We'll see who's still laughing when I get the marks back!
In other news, I attended, survived and returned from Winnipeg for the Further Upper Canada College and University Press Conference, or FUCCUP. (Heh heh--journalists are dirty!)
I drove the 14 hour journey with Ramin, Scottybomb, and Leah A. Our vehicle began the trip with the name "SeaQuest SUV" and ended it with the moniker "The Red Line" complete with theme song "The Final Countdown" after driving for FORTY MINUTES with the fuel light on.
The complete and utter absence of any open gas stations after crossing the Sask-Man border led us to come up with a new provincial motto: Manitoba. We Close at Midnight.
You know the red line? And the picture of the empty fuel tank UNDER the red line? We drove until the arrow was pointing UNDER that picture!!!
Anyhoo, we did eventually get gas and we puttered into town about 6am Central. After that we enjoyed 6 hours of sleep followed by a wild weekend of keynote speakers, informative sessions and lots and LOTS of drinking. (Heh heh--journalists are drunks!)
The only real complaints were having to eat dinner in a cramped classroom and hallway and the fact that the busses to take party-goers home weren't sent to pick us up until 2AM!!! GRRRR! Morgan does NOT like being confined!!!
I got a new nickname: Morgan "Kind of a Carebear" Smith.
I am SO TIRED. Three nights of 6 hours or less sleepy-time will do that to the Morgan. But would I do it again? Absolutely! In fact, I have to make an effort to get more involved with The Gateway in terms of contributing articles--if I want to get into a Writing Masters Program, the more diverse the portfolio, the better I look. Scottybomb is looking into seeing if we can be subsidized to go to NASH--the national version of FUCCUP--in January. Dan Savage will be a keynote! The only problem is the cost: $450 unsubsidized. Yikes.
I also leave for Florida-with-the-fam-damily on Thursday. I don't know how looking forward to it I am. I think it will end up being really bitter-sweet for all of us. I just hope I don't come home to an even BIGGER pile of undone homework more stressed out than when I left. I don't think that would prime me for Finals the way, I dunno, NOT wanting to slip into a coma would.
